Once a medical professional declares a person to be mentally incompetent - they will no longer be able to make decisions on their behalf. A Continuous Power of Attorney is a legal document in which one person appoints another person to act on his or her behalf concerning personal, financial, and health matters.
In the absence of a Continuing power of attorney, most likely the court will appoint someone to make those decisions, and not necessarily will that be according to what would have been the person’s wishes.
To prevent that is important to curate such a form.
