This power of attorney will allow you to name someone that you trust, to act as your agent if you are unable to speak for yourself.
Once a medical professional declares a person to be mentally incompetent - they will no longer be able to make decisions on their behalf. A Continuous Power of Attorney is a legal document in which one person appoints another person to act on his or her behalf concerning personal, financial, and health matters.
In the absence of a Continuing power of attorney, most likely the court will appoint someone to make those decisions, and not necessarily will that be according to what would have been the person’s wishes.
To prevent that is important to curate such a form.
Note - The documents can ONLY be signed while a person is mentally competent – if you wait, it might be too late to do so.
